A close-knit aged care home in Melbourne's inner west, with strong ties to the local Vietnamese and Chinese communities. Care and company around the clock, in your language, with family always welcome.
Not a facility. A close-knit household where the team knows every resident by name, and often in their own language.
Established gardens, courtyards and a gazebo outside. Three dining rooms, two lounges, a cinema, a library and a men's shed inside. Lunar New Year is one of the biggest days on the calendar. Better still, come and walk through it yourself.
Most families start looking at residential care after something happens. A fall, a hospital stay, a carer who has run out of steam.
Starting early keeps the choices in your hands. Our Care Managers sit down with you, get the facts on the table, and walk you through funding and what you'll pay in simple terms. Every new client receives a comprehensive clinical assessment at no additional cost.
Meet the team, see the rooms and gardens, and get a feel for daily life. Nexia Aged Care Footscray is at 25 Mephan Street, Footscray.

Most residential aged care in Australia is government funded, and many families are entitled to more than they realise. The fees, the means testing and the paperwork are all new to most people.
You don't have to decode any of it. Our Care Managers walk you through what applies to you, what you're entitled to, and what you'll pay, all made simple.
Three room types, all with a shared ensuite bathroom and access or outlook to gardens or courtyards. Bring treasured furnishings, photographs and belongings to make the space your own.

Residential Aged Care, also known as nursing homes or aged care homes, provides 24/7 care and support for individuals who can no longer live independently. When you move into an aged care home, you receive your own room and essential services such as meals, laundry, and cleaning, as well as personal care like assistance with showering or using the bathroom. Clinical care is tailored to your specific needs, and there are also social activities, outings, and lifestyle programs to help you stay connected and engaged with the community. In addition to long-term care, short-term or respite aged care offers temporary support, either after a hospital stay to help you regain independence, or when your regular caregiver needs a break. It’s a flexible option designed to ensure you receive the care you need during these transitional times.
A Registered Nurse is on duty 24/7, supported by a team of qualified care staff.
We also have doctors, physiotherapists, speech pathologists, and other allied health professionals who visit regularly, as required.
Our team of extended staff includes a range of professionals who support residents’ needs:
- Personal Support Workers
- Enrolled Nurses and Registered Nurses
- Lifestyle Coordinators
- Maintenance and Support Staff
- Chefs and Kitchen/Café Staff
- Allied Health Professionals
- Residence Managers and Administrative Staff
Allied Health Professionals, such as music therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and psychologists, help ensure the best care for our residents.
At Nexia Aged Care, we offer “ageing in place,” meaning that as residents’ care needs increase, they can remain in their current home. We adapt care to support residents’ evolving physical and mental health needs without needing to move them to a different facility.
If a resident’s condition changes suddenly, we have a trained clinical team available 24/7 to provide immediate care. We closely monitor all residents’ health and respond quickly to any changes in their condition. Families will be immediately notified if any significant health changes occur.
Yes, you are welcome to continue seeing your own doctor, provided they are able to visit you at the facility. We will work closely with your doctor and other healthcare providers to ensure a seamless and consistent approach to your care.
We don’t have fixed visiting hours as we consider the home to be a resident’s private space. However, in case of an outbreak (e.g., COVID-19 or flu), visiting hours may be temporarily adjusted. Please contact reception for updates.
We offer a wide range of recreational activities, including arts and crafts, exercise programs, music therapy, outings, gardening, and more. These activities are designed to encourage social interaction, promote physical well-being, and provide emotional support. We strive to ensure that every resident has an activity they enjoy.
There may be a waitlist depending on the availability of rooms and the level of care required. We recommend getting in touch with us early to discuss your options and secure a place as soon as possible.

Yes, and this is one of the biggest reasons families choose Nexia. Because we provide both services, your care can change as your needs change. Same team, same faces, and no starting again with a new provider.
Before moving into a residential aged care facility or receiving aged care funding, you will need to be assessed by My Aged Care to determine the level of support you require. You can apply for the assessment yourself by phoning 1800 200 422 or filling in an online application through My Aged Care. Alternatively, any of the following can make a referral on your behalf:
- Hospital professionals and admin staff
- GPs, medical specialists, and nurses
- Community health professionals
- Aged care service providers
- Community workers
The government offers funding based on your eligibility and specific care needs. For more details on how to start the process, click here (https://www.myagedcare.gov.au/where-start).
It depends on the type of care and your financial circumstances. Government funding covers a significant portion for most people. Before anything starts, our Care Managers walk you through exactly what you're entitled to and what you'd pay, in simple terms.
